Obituary of Linda D. Onderchain

Linda D. Onderchain, 77, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2019 with her family by her side. Born and raised in Scotia, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ralph M. Tyler and Inez (Wilbur “Bake”) Tyler Whittmore. Linda was a graduate of Scotia High School and married her beloved late husband Robert W. Onderchain, Sr. on June 23, 1962.  She retired after many years in banking for various local banks. Linda and her husband enjoyed traveling around the country to places as far as Alaska. Linda was a former member of the Scotia Baptist Church and was a dedicated member of the Kiwanis Club. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed donating quilts to children in need. Linda also enjoyed volunteering for Double H Ranch, where she created and donated teddy bears, and for Bridging People and Places. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her generosity, and most importantly the love she had for her family. She loved spending time with her family and had a special bond with her 3 sisters, who all lived within 5 miles of each other.

Linda was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert W. Onderchain, Sr in 2017 and her son Robert W. Onderchain, Jr in 1987.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Bonnie (William) Huff, her granddaughter Meghan (Shawn) Huff Gilgore and her great granddaughter Elisa Gilgore. Also surviving are her sisters Beverly (the late Dr. Nicholas) Mirando, Audrey (William) Putnam and Patricia (Ronald) Hartmann as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours for Linda will be held on Saturday January 19, 2019 from 9am-11am at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road Glenville. Funeral services will take place at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Park Cemetery in Scotia. Memorial contributions in Linda’s name may be made to Bridging People and Places, P.O.
