Obituary of Audrey J. Putnam

Audrey J. Putnam, 85, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hubbardsville, NY she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Inez (Hodges) Tyler. Audrey was a 1955 graduate of Scotia Glenville High School.  She married her beloved husband William R. Putnam on December 16, 1955. Together they shared 67 beautiful years of marriage.  Audrey adored flowers and plants and spent her career in the horticultural field. She worked for Bill McKenna running greenhouses and retired from Hewitt’s in Glenville after working as the Greenhouse Supervisor for twenty years. Audrey enjoyed bowling, downhill skiing with her daughter and was a member of the East Glenville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  Above all she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her husband and dedicated caregiver William Putnam, Audrey is survived by her children Debbie Macherone (the late Robert), Lynn Stapleton (Mike Pelligrino), Douglas Putnam (Beth Fain) and Michele Chabot. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Sonja, Shannon, Rob, Crystal, Amie, Bradley, Andrew and Brandon, 12 great grandchildren: Dennis, John, Joey, Brianna, Keyera, Savannah, Jayden, Levi, Kayden, Evan, Taylor and Harper and 1 great great grandchild Danielle. Her sister Patricia Hartmann (Ronald), her special niece Kathy Buchalski along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and son in law Robert Macherone she was predeceased by her sisters Linda Onderchain (the late Robert) and Beverly Mirando (the late Nicholas).

The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Saratoga Hospital for the extraordinary care Audrey received during her stay.

Funeral services will be private for the family. Audrey will be laid to rest at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
