Obituary of Dorothy Gehrt

Dorothy Gehrt, 84, daughter of the late Otto and Mary Gehrt passed away unexpectedly at her home. Dorothy was an art teacher spending the majority of her teaching career in the Niskayuna School District. She was a kind and generous person, a good sister, as well as a dearly cherished and loyal friend. She loved to travel. She spent many vacations with her sister Frances (deceased) and brother-in-law, Ed (deceased), camping in the southwest. Dorothy was an avid photographer and enjoyed developing her black and white photos in her dark room. Every year she planted her gardens; reaping and sharing its rewards with her friends. With a love of birds, she always made sure the outdoor birds were well fed during the winter months. Dorothy is survived by her sisters Patricia London (Anthony) of Amsterdam, NY & Estero, Fl, Marie Dillard (Robert) of Westminster, CA, as well as several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted in the Glenville Funeral Home. At her request there will be no services. Donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to a charity of choice.
