Obituary of Cathy Lynn Capobianco

Cathy Lynn Capobianco, 66, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2017 at her home in Scotia, NY, with family by her side. Born April 17, 1950 in Denver, Colorado, Cathy was the daughter of the late John R. McDermott and Ruth L. (Cross) McDermott. After moving to the area in 1992, Cathy worked passionately as a nurse, most recently at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in Schenectady, where she touched the lives of many people. She loved exploring and hiking the great outdoors and observing desert wildflowers like columbines and flax in full bloom. She took regular walks in Saratoga State Park, where she was also a summer concert volunteer, and loved dancing to her heart’s content in Zumba and LaBlast classes. She was overjoyed by the anticipated arrival of her first grandson in April. Cathy greatly cherished time with her loved ones who will remember her for her selfless manner, radiant spirit, and steady strength. Cathy is survived by her beloved son Joseph T. Capobianco (Melissa) of Saratoga Springs, former husband Thomas E. Capobianco of Rexford, her brother Robert W. McDermott (Darla), nephew Parker D. McDermott and niece Hannah R. McDermott of Waterford, PA, her cousin Wayne F. Lorenz (Gail), and their daughter Kristen Yutzy (Derek) of Denver, CO. Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Cathy’s life Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 3pm, with a calling hour beginning at 2pm, at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd, Glenville.
