Obituary of John Jones
John S. Jones, 88, of Glenville, NY, passed away Wednesday, May 9th, after a brief illness at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, NY. He was a resident at Judson Meadows Assisted Living Community in Glenville, NY. John was born April 23, 1930 in Cambridge, NY. Originally from Granville, NY, John moved to Schenectady, NY in 1939. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and Empire State College.John served in the National Guard and the Army Reserve. He retired with the rank of Colonel. John worked as a Senior Specifications Writer for the New York State Department of General Services until his retirement.John was the son of the late Thomas Jones and Blodwyn Parry Jones. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion Ford Jones. He is survived by his first cousin, Donald (Carmel) Parry of Scotia, NY.John was active his entire life in a multitude of philanthropic endeavors. He embraced his passion for helping others and had made numerous great friends throughout his lifetime. John's work is done here, but his legacy and memories of John will live on. He was a straight forward stand up person. John served in numerous organizations, held prestigious titles, and received numerous awards. John was the past Grand High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons of the State of New York. He was the past Grand Marshall of the Grand Lodge of the State of New York. John was a past Master of the Schenectady lodge #1174 Free and Accepted Masons. He was also the past Sovereign Prince in the Scottish Rite.
