Obituary of Tony Guzzo

Antonio “Tony” Guzzo, 81, passed away suddenly on July 5, 2018. Born in Pianopoli, Italy he was the son of Guiseppe and Teresa Maria (Servidone) Guzzo. Tony was educated in Italy and immigrated to the United States in 1953. He married his beloved wife Perina (Brino) Guzzo on February 4, 1961 in Mamaroneck, NY on one of the snowiest days there was. Tony was a master carpenter and was proud he help build homes for his entire family including his own. He took pride in all he did. Tony enjoyed the simple things in life, most importantly his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved tending to his vegetable garden, making sausage and his red wine. Tony will be remembered for his honest and humble ways.

In addition to his wife Perina, he is survived by his children Diana (Craig) Guzzo Myers, Dr. Joseph Anthony (Dr. Kavita Nanda) Guzzo and Michael (Lisa) Guzzo. His cherished grandchildren Derrik, Michael, and Angela Guzzo, Nicholas, Clarissa and Julie Myers, Anthony and Krishan Guzzo. Tony is survived by his brothers Angelo (Rosa) Guzzo and Mario (Colleen) Guzzo and his sister Lena Porcaro of Italy. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially Dr. Ray Colucciello and Dr. Rit Gullott also survive. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Tomaso Guzzo.

A celebration of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 231 2nd St, Scotia, NY 12302 at 9:30am.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Tony’s name may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave Scotia, NY 12302 or a charity of one’s choice.
