Obituary of Gino L. Pitucci
Gino L. Pitucci, 87, of Rotterdam born May 1st, 1931 in Chiete, Italy to the late Vincent and Elvira (Cianci) Pitucci went home to Jesus on August 2nd, surrounded by his loving family. As a young man, he entered the Italian Air Force. He emigrated from Italy to Canada in his early 20s; there he worked for the railroad as a cook.
He met his wife, the former Rosemary Tamasi in Schenectady. They married on April 9, 1961.
Together they made Schenectady their home. He started Ginton Builders, which then evolved into Plank Construction with his good friend, James McCormick.
Gino was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus (4th Degree -past Grand Knight), Schonowe Volunteer Fire Department, St. Anthony’s Church and Knights of Columbus Golf League and Sons of Italy #321. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, attending the St. Anthony’s Festa, and going to the Casino.
Throughout his life, he held a strong faith.
Proud of his Italian heritage, he loved traveling to Italy where he visited friends and family as often as he could. When in Italy, he would assist his brother at his Italian bakery, as well as at his friend’s local bakery, Bella Napoli.
Gino loved people; he was very outgoing with a wonderful personality; he made many lasting friendships over his lifetime. Gino always helped his neighbors; he was a dedicated friend who was there for them. He adored his family, Gino was a devoted husband, father and companion to his beloved pets.
Survivors include his son, Michael Pitucci; daughter Susan Nugent (Daniel Nugent Jr.); sisters, Angelina and Rose of Chiete, Italy; sister in laws, Elsie Farone, Ava Pitucci and Louise Roselle; many beloved nieces and nephews in America and Italy, and his beloved wife, Rosemary; all who feel blessed to have had him in their lives, and will miss him greatly.
Predeceased by his brothers Rocco Pitucci of Italy and Romolo Pitucci of Australia; brothers in law, Herman Farone and Donald Roselle of Schenectady, Charles Tamasi of Scotia; and sister in law Angelina Tamasi of Scotia.
Calling hours will be held at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd, on Monday August 6th from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral Services are 11 AM on Tuesday at St. Anthony's Church, followed by interment at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Schenectady. Online condolences may be made at glenvillefuneralhome.com
