Obituary of George O. Dipre

George O. Dipre, Jr., 83, of Ballston Spa, NY, died on August 9, 2018, after an extended illness.  Born in Johnstown, PA, on April 16, 1935, Mr. Dipre was the son of the late Bruna Cesa Dipre and George O. Dipre, Sr., of Brockport, PA.

 

            George grew up in Brandy Camp and Brockport, PA.  He graduated from Horton Township High School in 1952 and attended Youngstown College in Youngstown, OH, for three years.  During the Vietnam Era, George served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in July of 1957. During his work career, he was employed by several companies, including extensive work as a computer programmer, software developer, and systems analyst for the Honeywell and Xerox Corporations.  He is the author of the book, Software, First Analytical Principles.  George was an avid chess player and was a member of the Saratoga Staunton Chess Club.

 

            George is survived by his sister, Dr. Vera Prosper, of Ballston Lake, NY.  Having never married, he was the beloved Uncle George to his sister's children and grandchildren throughout their lives.  He will be greatly missed by nieces Lisa K. Prosper Burton (Mark) of Ashfield, MA, and  Paula A. Prosper (Greg Close) of Arlington, VA; by nephew Peter A. Prosper, III (Tricia) of Scotia, NY; by four great-nieces Giuliana Burton (Eric Diehl) of New Market, MD, Lily Burton of Shelburne Falls, MA, Emily Prosper of Scotia, NY, and Vera Nicole Close of Arlington, VA; and by three great-nephews Anthony Prosper and Matthew Prosper of Scotia, NY, and Cassius Close of Arlington, VA. In addition, he is survived by many cousins and friends.

 

            A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Boniface Catholic Church, Kersey, PA, at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 27, with burial in the Saint Boniface Cemetery.  There will be no visitation hours.  In August, private cremation services were conducted by the Glenville Funeral Home, Glenville, NY.
