Obituary of A. June Cerniglia

A. June Fitzpatrick Cerniglia Schenectady passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013. She was born on June 18th, 1916 and lived in the Schenectady/Glenville area all her life. The last surviving member of the FitzpatrickSartoris family and matriarch of her loving Cerniglia family, June was a light in the world. June was a strong, independent woman which showed through in every aspect of her life: her intelligence, athleticism, work ethic, and most of all as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Affectionally she was known to her family as Nee-Nee. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Vincent J. Cerniglia; two daughters, Janet Shave(Andrew), Marilyn Chew (widow of Kristopher); seven grandchildren, Christopher Shave (Meegan), Donnelle Huck (Timothy), Garth Riccio, Kirstin Vivacqua (Michael), Drew Shave (Kate), Toria English (Blake), and Bryanne Chew (Erich); seven great-grandchildren, Cosette, Macey, Shana,Vincent, Cruz, Thomas, and Augustine. June was a retired registered nurse and worked at both Ellis Hospital and Glendale Home. She continued her calling as a resident of Baptist Health and Rehabilitation, offering advice, suggestions, and her expertise to the incredible nursing staff there. Her fondest memories came from traveling with her husband, Vincent, and the camping trips they took with their grandchildren. Together, June and Vincent saw most of the country, and even traveled through Canada. They made many friends along the way, and treasured the time they spent with their RV family. Junes legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As per her request, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 5, 2013 at 9 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd., Glenville.
