Obituary of Marlene Ella Massey

Marlene Ella Massey, 77, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2018 at Ellis Hospital with her family at her side. Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabelle (Coons) Zanetto. Marlene was a life long area resident and was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. She married her beloved late husband Frank E. Massey on May 4, 1963 at St. Luke’s Church in Schenectady. Together they raised a wonderful family. Marlene worked for the Schenectady County Department of Social Services as a Social Worker and retired after 25 faithful years. She also enjoyed working part time for Mayfair Jewelers and for Dr. Chul Hwang. Marlene was a member of the Soroptimist of Schenectady Club as well as a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Church in Scotia. She was an avid gardener, and above all cherished her time spent with her family.

Marlene was predeceased by her husband Frank on November 22, 2015.

She is survived by her beloved children, son Michael (Karen) Massey, daughters Melissa (Kerry) McMahon and Melanie Margeson. Marlene is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Emily, Alec and Gabriel Massey and Jack and Carly Rae Margeson.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 26,2018 from 6-8pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday September 27,2018 at 9:30am at St. Joseph’s Church, 231 2nd St, Scotia, NY 12302. Committal services will take place at a later date at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
