Obituary of Lois F. Dartt
Lois F. Dartt, 93, passed way at the Eddy Village Green on September 29, 2018.Born in Pittsfield, MA, Lois graduated Pittsfield H.S. and attended Berkshire Business College. She was the youngest of three children to John Foster Jr. and Lena Nash Foster. Lois worked three years at Berkshire Auto Inc., before entering the Navy during WWII as a member of the W.A.V.E.S. Lois served in the active Navy one year from '45-46 for the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, D.C., where she worked as a stenographer after attending Naval Training School in Bronx, NY. Lois married, Charles C. Dartt, on February 28, 1946 in Pittsfield MA, and later settled in Glenville, NY when Charles transferred from Pittsfield G.E to Schenectady in 1965.After raising a family, Lois and Charlie enjoyed camping at Howell's Campground with Charlie's sister, Shirley and her husband Donald Andrews. Charles and Lois traveled extensively in their RV along the eastern seaboard of the United States. Lois was an avid birdwatcher and gardener.Her beloved Charlie passed away on February 7, 2000. She was also predeceased by her siblings, John E. Foster and Hazel Johnston.Survivors include two daughters, Linda Dartt of Montville, ME and Christine Charron of Mohnton, PA; and her sons, Randall F. (Kathleen) Dartt of Niskayuna and Charles A. Dartt of Schenectady, NY. Lois is also survived by eleven cherished grandchildren; plus several great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews.Funeral services will be held, 10 a.m. on Thursday (Oct, 4) at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville, NY. Interment will be with military honors at 12:30 p.m., Thursday at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Veteran's Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. in Schuylerville.Viewing hours will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct, 3).Memorials may be made to the Women's Memorial Foundation in support of women veterans or The National Wildlife Federation, in memory of Lois's love of nature.Lois' family would also like to thank the caregivers and staff at Eddy Village Green at Cohoes for their exceptional care and support during her stay there.Glenvillefuneralhome.com for condolences.
