Obituary of Irene E. Jones

 Irene E. (Shaw) Jones, 93, a resident of Kingsway Manor/Kingsway Community, formerly of Glenville, died October 12, 2018.

Born in Barkersville, NY on October 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Effie (Bills) Shaw. Irene worked at G.E. in her early years, became a homemaker and a bookkeeper for Ridgevue Plumbing and Heating.  She enjoyed swimming, gardening, shopping, cooking and managing a busy family on Ridge Rd. in Glenville. Irene loved animals and cared for many in her lifetime.

She is survived by three sons, Douglas and Mark of Scotia, Todd Jones (Louise) and grandson Grant L. Jones, of Canajoharie, NY and a daughter, Ellen Jones of Galway, NY.  Irene is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence "Bud" Jones, and her siblings, Robert Shaw, Mary Fonda, Dr. Roswell Shaw, William Shaw, June (Shaw) Bennett, Harry and Frank Shaw. The Shaw Family owned and operated Shaw Dairy for many years in Barkersville, NY.  The family wishes to sincerely thank Jim Hurley and Home Instead, Glenville Hills Fire Dept., Ellis Hospital and Kingsway Community/Manor for assisting in her care and comprehensive needs.

 Funeral services 11 AM on Thursday (October 18) from Centre Glenville UM Church, Corner of Bolt Rd.@ Rte 147 in Glenville. The Jones family will receive visitors at the church prior from 10-11 AM.
