Frances Brehm

Obituary of Frances Brehm

On December 29th 2018, we lost the comfort of Frances (Mammy) Brehm in our lives. Frances was born in Schenectady NY on November 27, 1933, the daughter of the late Frank and Antoinette (Iovino) Renna. Frances graduated Mont Pleasant High School and received her degree from The College of Saint Rose. A Computer Analyst at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, she retired in 1995 after 35 years. An accomplished artist, she painted amazing works on all types of material and knitted many items including her family’s treasured Christmas stockings. Frances belonged to the Charlton Seniors as well as Scotia-Glenville Seniors. Fran was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Schenectady. The title she was most proud of was “Mammy”. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dr. P. Joseph Renna and Anthony Renna. Survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Lee (Anthony) Vilardi of Clifton Park, sons, Bill (Mary) Brehm of Glenville, Rick (late Katrina) Brehm of Jericho, VT and Robert (Maryellen) Brehm of Schenectady; her beloved sisters, Carmela Greppo, Teresa Raymond and sister-in-laws Antoinette Renna and Beverly (Harry) White; grandchildren, Justin (Sandy) Vilardi, Ashlee Vilardi (Tommy Horgan), Jessica (Billy) Beecher, Sarah Brehm, Samantha Brehm, Zachary and Patrick Brehm and great granddaughter Isabella Vilardi. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. A life reflection will begin on Thursday, January 3rd at 1:30 PM at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. (Town Center) with calling prior to the service from 12 noon to 1:30 pm. A procession to Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery will follow. Memorial donations may be made in Frances’ name to Camp TA-KUM-TA, a year round camp for children with cancer, P.O. Box 459, South Hero Vermont 05486, or www.Takumta.org. Online condolences are found at Glenvillefuneralhome.com There will be a thousand laughs shared as we tell a thousand stories about an amazing woman. As we mourn Mammy’s passing, let us remember to celebrate the joy she brought to so many. “All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel [grand]mother.” Abraham Lincoln
