I remember Paul when I worked for the family at Sherman’s for several summers. He was always smiling and “busy” and on the move. God bless all

Many fond memories of Mr. Volk (as he will always be, and I'll always be in 8th grade). Most especially a trip to Boston and Cape Cod our 8th grade year where he entertained us with all manner of party games, stories, and good advice.
My condolences to all the Volk family. But what a fine life lived.

I taught physical education with Paul many years at Schalmont. He was truly a very professional person, a good teacher and mentor for many kids. We had many chats through the years together and I loved his sense of humor. This past summer I had the opportunity to visit with him at the Subaru dealership. We were both there for car service so we had time to catch up on our lives since retirement. We frequently crossed paths at Proctor's since out seats were near each other but never had the chance to have a long conversation. He was always very supportive in my work. I will miss him.

To my dearest Maryl and family-
I have such fond memories of both of your parents, from way back at IC days up through very recent times.
Your father was such a joy to be around, and was as social and delightful as the words in this obituary describe.
Incredible sense of humor and it was clear how much he enjoyed having people around, especially seeing how much we all enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Wolf Pond, while creating wonderful memories there.
It is so clear what an amazing job both of your parents did in raising you, Maryl as you are one incredibly special woman, and an especially dear friend of mine.
I hope the love and prayers we all offer to you and your family can help ease the pain of saying goodbye (but not forever!) to your sweet father. Love you, Maryl. Blessings to you and your family from both John and me. Xoxoxo

My best regards to all Volks & Morris Familys To one of the best man I ever knew. I will always miss you for the summers where I grew up with your family in Caroga Lake.
You where like my second father to me. I always looked forward to coming to the store ( Food a Ramma) to help you out. Stocking shelves, separating soda bottles, swatting flies for a penny each. I believe I spent more time at the store then I did at home in the summer as a kid. Then I turn old enough to get paid to work at the store. Making Donuts, pizzas and everything else. Thanks you Billy Morris and your Dad And Paul for the Shermans Park. I got to run the rides, work all around the park for Paul.
Bill Morris Sr, he was the the best , great man..
Thanks for the memories and best wishes to all the family.
Love ya, Paul

Your Dad's passing marks the end of a very defined generation of our family. They (Paul,Amy, Ron, and Ruth) grew up in an era we can only imagine with experiences truly outside of our comfortable childhoods. On Sunday we will honor the memory of a man who would move mountains for his family. Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult period.
With love and sympathy,
"Aunt" Tammie & " Uncle" Jim

Dear Family, I am deeply saddened to read of Paul's passing, and wish you comfort at this difficult time. He was an extraordinary man of the highest honor and integrity. I, as many other students of his will attest, have carried his lessons with us throughout our lives. Paul had coached I, and my brother Neil, in the late 60's and upon my brothers passing several years ago came to pay his respects, an act of compassion I will never forget. May God hold you during this time,. Rest easy old friend, your work and legacy here will last forever.
Lefty, Paul Hasbrouck

Maryl, what a beautiful obituary. What a wonderful father he must have been! Until now, I didn't realize that your dad was the gym teacher at Schalmont when I was there. It also brought back wonderful memories I had as a child visiting Sherman's Amusement Park. My family used to camp at the State campground and take their boat over to Sherman's.
A life well lived. Thanks for the memories Mr. Volk.
