I was Wayne’s neighbor and baby sitter for Wayne and his brothers. It was wild. They were rowdy! I have fond memories of Wayne when he was about 11 or 12. Scotia was a lovely place to grow up in.

My family and I would like to extend our condolences in your time of grief. I succeeded Wayne at the SUNY Ion Beam Lab and worked with him over the past couple of years. He has left a lasting mark here at SUNY and will be missed. If there is anything of his here that the family wishes to acquire, please let me know so it can be arranged to be released to the family.

Wayne was a very important part of a large extended family of hippies that attend the Woodstock reunion at Yasgur's Farm each year in Bethel, NY. I met the guy known to us as "WayneGee" in June of 1999 on my first trip to Bethel, and have seen him there every August since. Many people came and went from the the group, but Wayne is one of a handful of people that was ALWAYS there. He had a complete movie theater on wheels, including a large screen and speakers. We would literally watch movies in the woods while we were camping. He was the guy who could and did make it happen. There are many wonderful stories about Wayne and the people in the Woodstock family are grieving this week. His kind and gentle spirit touched all of us and we will never forget him.
There will be a special ceremony in his honor this August in Bethel.

We at the University at Albany are deeply grateful for the years of excellent service and collegial and even tempered manner of Wayne. His dedication to his work and his effortless ease with people coupled with devotion to his craft and attention to his stakeholders reminds us of the importance of those who are the backbone of all great organizations. In his final year, his resolute acceptance of his fate engendered memories in those of us whose fathers similarly succumbed to this insidious disease with courage and grace, concerned mostly with those who would be left behind. Thank you Wayne not only on behalf of all of those your served but also for teaching by example of how you served.

Dad always had a way of explaining things while adding his sense of humor into the mix. I could call him with a serious conversation and he’d make sure the conversation ended on a light note with lots of humor. Just always made me look on the brighter side of things and taught me not everything in life has to be serious. So many memories- trips to the catskill game farm, horseback riding, he had a serious love for animals. I could go on for days. Love and miss you Dad. Peace ✌️Love and music forever in our hearts.

Wayne was a very capable and effective co-worker, equally adept at advice and assistance. He developed many of the facilities still used at the Ion Beam Laboratory at UAlbany. Our many years together at the IBL were pleasant and productive, leaving me with a deep appreciation for his legacy. We remain very thankful for his continuing efforts to keep the operation going even while his illness pressed hard upon him. He will be long remembered.

Take a close look at the toy in Wayne's left hand. It seems Wayne's connection to the US Air Force started in 1958. Here he's with his brother Robert.
