As a kid, I remember walking down the entrance hall of the two family house and the strong smell of wine coming up from the cellar. Then I'd walk into the kitchen where Aunt Lis was standing at the stove and smell the wonderful aroma of spaghetti sauce (gravy) and see the pasta drying on racks and backs of chairs. Needless to say, when I grew up, I bought myself a pasta machine and make my gravy from scratch. There's nothing like homemade! I still can't get the gravy quite right. I was fortunate to get Aunt Lis's recipe for horseshoe cookies which I will always cherish.
