Obituary of Steven Barton

Steven Barton, age 92, passed away peacefully at the Wentworth Senior Living Facility in Portsmouth, NH on June 8, 2019  after a period of declining health.

He was born and raised in Hudson, NY, the son of Stephen and Theresa Bujnovsky. He lived the majority of his adult life and raised his family in Scotia, NY.

After graduating from Hudson High School in 1945, Steve enlisted in U.S. Navy and served aboard Navy ships in the Pacific during the end of WWII. He returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Bertha Lubera. Upon receiving an Associates Degree from Alfred University, he began a 35 year career at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory Division of the General Electric Co. Steve had a lifetime love of the game of basketball and was most proud of being a member of the Hudson Blue Hawk “starting five”. Later on he enjoyed following the high school and college basketball careers of his children and grandchildren. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, especially during extended camping trips in the Adirondacks and on Cape Cod. During retirement he spent winters in Fort Myers, FL where he enjoyed singing in the local choir.

Steve leaves behind a loving family, 2 children, Steven and his wife Anne of Portsmouth, NH, Nancy McGowan and her husband Keith of Norfolk MA; 6 grandchildren, Sarah Franklin, Stephanie Wilson, Michael Barton, Michael McGowan, Katie McGowan and Molly McGowan; one great grandchild, Sadie Wilson.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Bertha, who passed away in 1988, 2 sisters, Ethel Singer and Tessie Curtin, and his longtime companion Deloris LaBella.
