Obituary of Georgina Renkavinsky

Georgina M. Renkavinsky 74, formerly of Scotia, passed away on September 29, 2012 at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing home and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness. Georgina was born in St. Johns, Newfoundland on October 29, 1937, daughter of the late George and Mary Madden Hennessey. Georgina grew up in North Sydney, Nova Scotia where she attended St. Joseph's Catholic school and received her Master's in education from St. Francis of Xavier college. She worked as elementary school teacher at St Joseph's catholic school and also served as a music instructor at the school. She moved to Stoney Brook L.I. and was married on September 18, 1971 to John L. Renkavinsky a wildlife biologist. Her husband's job took them to Schenectady in 1981. Georgina was a member of the Schenectady woman's tennis club, the Thursday music club, Octavo Choral Society, among others. Mrs. Renkavinsky was a founding member of the Abounding Grace Christian Church in Rotterdam. John Renkavinsky passed away on February 18, 2000. Survivors include her son, Stephen Renkavinsky ( Heather Otis) of Schenectady , a brother, Leslie Hennessey of Los Angeles, CA and a nephew, Adam Hennessey of Belize, South America. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd with Rev. Jay Stillinger officiating. A calling period for friends and relatives will precede the service from 6pm. to 7pm. A graveside committal service will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy Schenectady Rd, at 10am Thursday, October 4.
