My thoughts go out to you all .
When I was sixteen Richard gave me my first job at the Siena College Bookstore.
I often think of my time there spent stacking books , sneaking a read and talking to Richard about the current books we were reading.
It was a very important time in my live.
He was a kindred spirit who inspired me to read and never stop learning.
He will be missed.

My deep condolences for your loss. I'll never forget the weekends, holidays and summers I spent with Richard and the Ives family. His kind, good humored and generous nature are what I'll remember most. I'm thankful for the wonderful memories I have to cherish - he will be missed but never forgotten. I'm sure he can rest in peace knowing that he lives on through his family, friends and all the lives he touched along the way ; that is existence made the world a brighter place and he can be proud of the loved ones he now watches over.

My deep condolences on the loss of Richard. He was always so helpful during my teaching career at Siena. Even at the busiest times, his friendly demeanor was appreciated and most effective. I will remember him as a very positive experience at Siena and wish you peace.

Richard was a lifelong friend, his passing leaves a void that is hard to describe, we grew up skiing, enjoying water sports, hiking and golfing together and have continued to do so all of our adult lives. Regardless of what transitions we encountered in our lives we always had the ability to reach out and talk to each other about complex issues or trivial nonsense with the same ease.
Richard was a special person, a concerned and considerate person who enjoyed the comradery of friends and family.
He was a good man and a good friend, I don't know a finer tribute that I can offer.

To Richard’s family - you are in my prayers as is Richard. He was a great presence on the Siena Campus - he was good to all of us - students, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni & friars. I know you will miss him - so, too, will the Siena community. May he Rest In Peace. Fraternally, Fr. Kevin Mullen, O.F.M. ( Former Siena President).

I was very fond of DI, as we called him at Fredonia State. He was a very warm & intelligent person that you could always have a thoughtful and provocative conversation with. My memories of DI at the "Animal House" on Lambert Street in Fredonia will be looked upon fondly for the rest of my life. While we had lost touch for the most part over the years, Richard will be missed by myself and his friends from those days.God bless you old friend.
