Obituary of Richard Goertz

Richard Goertz Jr., 80, of Kile Drive, passed away June 9, 2013 at his home. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Richard Goertz Sr. and Frances Hoffman Goertz. Dick served in the U.S. Navy as a radio mechanic from '51-'55 during the Korean War. He received his bachelors of science degree from Union College. He married the former Darline Lyons on September 12, 1959. Mr. Goertz was an engineer in Large Steam Turbines at General Electric, Building 273. He retired from G.E. in 1994. Dick was a family man first and foremost and enjoyed his grandchildren growing up. Dick was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception Survivors include his beloved wife, Darline Goertz, his children; Kenneth G. Goertz (Giselle) of Las Vegas, NV, Jill K. Fox of San Diego, CA and Keith D. Goertz (Maria Williams) of Rotterdam. He leaves behind a sister, Anna Mae Kot of Albany, NY and four cherished grandchildren: Rachael , Sarah, Jacqueline and Jacob Goertz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 14, 2013 at 10 AM at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Rd. Glenville with Rev. Jerome Gingras officiating. Calling hours will precede the mass at the church on Friday from 9-10 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, 269 Hanover St. Hanover, MA 02339 or to the Schenectady City Mission, 425 Hamilton St. Schenectady, NY 12305.
