I was wondering what happened to 'Patty' ? I searched her name and found this sad news- I am so sad right now!
I have a picture of her in a group photo from Pratt-- 1985! I remember
Her as so sweet, the coolest hair, genuine person who loved her boyfriend! funny, funny girl .
I remember teaching her how to do perspective rendering, hanging out with Nicole, Alex, Phillip and Adrian.
I hope someone reads this and reaches out to me-- Nicole F. if you
Read this please call me.
Patty... I hope life was good to you and your son. Rest peacefully love.

I met Patty through our children's school. We were instantly the best of friends. It is with a very heavy heart that I write this. My thoughts are with her brave son and family. During the time of our friendship I knew that she was one of the most special woman I ever met. We laughed and cried during her graceful battle. Every year she was with me on my birthday and when she couldn't be she would drop a bday present for me before she went to chemo. (always thinking of others) We had a really fun night in April --we went out to dinner laughed and cried about the future --told her that I loved her like a sister. As we left the restaurant the hostess asked leaving so early -- we were there for 4hours. After dinner we went to the W Hotel and had a drink. We were probably the oldest people there..but we had fun. I am so grateful for that night! We had a fun sleepover. My sweet friend I know that when I join you we will be sitting in rockers with designer shoes drinking delicious red wine with peonies all around us. You are missed deeply. I will pray for Luke, your mom, and brother and his family. ( and Annie) xo

As a contractor it is rare that I work for someone who becomes a friend and inspiration. Patty had a passion for what she did and what she wanted done. Hers was a collaboration. She shared her passion and I could tell from her smiling eyes that she loved and lived her life fully. Even in pain, her heart and soul were bursting. I may forget some of the stories, but I'll never forget the way in which she conveyed them with truth, love and joy.

Patty baby sat for my two children back in the late 1970's
She came to our house to meet my son and daughter before she
was to baby sit at night. My son (Brian) was around 10 years old at the
time. After Patty left, he jokingly fainted on the floor because he thought
she was so pretty.
I was so saddened to read of her passing so young.
My thoughts and prayers are with her son and family.

THOUGHTS FROM KILLARNEY
To know Patty is to love her, gentle, kind, elegant and the most beautiful sparkly eyes, full of fun and humour. I remarked on this to her the last time we met and she gave me her wonderful full blown smile in return, complete with an extra hint of mischief in those expressive eyes. We didn't meet very often but I feel as if I know her very well. On her first visit to Ireland, herself and Michael had a wonderful time in the hayfield - stacks of hay, dried in the sun ready to be stored for animal feed for winter. It was great fun to bounce on it, so soft and scented. Patty is a real family person and so proud of her darling son Luke. Regular chats on the phone with him even from Ireland. Just want you all to know, you are in our thoughts and prayers. My Mum, Aunt Mary, has a special place in her heart for her nieces Liz and Cissy [ better known as Cathy!!] She spent time with them when they were little and has many wonderful memories from then. Our 'American' cousins are special and that includes all the generations. We follow the main events in your lives with genuine affection and caring.
Tonight and tomorrow we will join you in remembrance of Patty and in solidarity with your grief. Mom has a little statue of Our Lady, about 6" tall that made its way from Bradford St. and now has pride of place in the kitchen. We will light blue candles and pray with you.
For those that don't know me, I am Aunt Mary's daughter, Sheila Hickey, born in Albany in 1951, and I am very proud of that!

Although I met Patty in the past year when she moved to Cold Spring, she and I became fast friends, as did my son with Luke. We often joked they were like brothers, they formed a special bond from the moment they first met. I always told Patty we had a double blessing when we all met. Patty touched my life in so many wonderful ways, she was a beautiful woman and had a special gift of kindness that always stayed with me. Her love of Luke has made him the amazing young man that he is today. Her courage and strength were unfailing. We are so very sad to lose her so soon and she will always remain in our hearts. Our deepest condolences to all the family.

Bill and I have may have not gotten married if not for Cousin Patty.
Bill and I had just started dating (again) when Cousin Patty asked up to join her on vacation on Cape Cod. We went and had a wonderful weekend talking, laughing and spending time on the beach. On that vacation, we boiled a big pot of lobsters. Bill, who hates seafood with a passion, ate a whole lobster in front of me. That's when I knew it was true love. I decided then, that if he asked me to marry him, I would say yes.
Because Cousin Patty was kind enough to invite us to the ocean and because we had such a wonderful time together, Bill and I got engaged shortly after that vacation. We have a photo album at home filled with lovely pictures of that trip and I always remember Cousin Patty when I think of how and why Bill and I are married now.
God bless you Cousin Patty, a lovely, kind, warm and beautiful person. Thank you for being such an important part of our lives. You will always be in our hearts and we love you dearly.
