Obituary of Arthur DeSieno

Arthur DeSieno, 81, of Glenville, passed away peacefully June 30, 2013 at Joan Nicole Prince Home in Scotia with his loving family by his side. A lifelong area resident, he was the son of the late John A. and Josephine Caruso DeSieno. He married the former Margaret Valianti on July 5, 1953. Art worked as a programmer for 15 years at the General Electric Co. in Schenectady. He was then employed by the Department of Social Services in Albany as a systems analyst for over 20 years until retiring in 1985. Arthur was an avid hunter, enjoying the sport his entire life. After retiring he found a second home at the Galway Golf Club as a starter where he made many friends. Art enjoyed NYC Broadway Shows and theatre and of course many rounds of golf with his dear friends. The passing away in 2005 of his beloved Margaret left a void which was soon fulfilled by adopting a dog. The special bond between a man and his dog was never more evident when Art found Okie online from a kennel in Oklahoma. It wasprobably the first and only time he used a computer recently bought him by his family. Surviving are two sons, John (Cathy) DeSieno and Arthur (Lori) DeSieno of Glenville; a daughter, Diane (Paul) Wheeler of Bleecker, NY; and seven cherished grandchildren, Paul Jason Wheeler, Jesse Wheeler, Jennifer (Jason) Capello and Lisa (Craig) Relyea, Alison (Jonathan) Muckell, Andrew (Theresa Wilcox) DeSieno and Katelyn DeSieno; and one great-grandson, Logan Arthur DeSieno. Art leaves a brother, Carmen DeSieno (Louise) of Colonie; and his sister, Carol DeSieno of Niskayuna; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend Okie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place in Schenectady with the Rev. Richard A. Carlino officiating. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. There will be no prior calling hours. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Colonie. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Joan Nicole Prince Home, 22 Glenview Dr., Scotia, NY 12302 are most appreciated.
