Obituary of David C. Wanmer
On Saturday, December 5, 2020, David “Dave” C. Wanmer, passed away suddenly at the age of 45 doing what he loved.
David was born on October 23, 1975. He grew up in Glenville, NY and attended Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School District. In his high school days, he was known as an amazing athlete and the class clown. David continued to carry the “class clown” personality throughout his adult life. While fighting Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 1997, he was always the one making the nurses and doctors laugh. In 1998, he welcomed a baby girl, Morgan Marie Wanmer, into the world who was his pride and joy. In the year of 2001, David met the love of his life, Leslie Charline Wright. Together they resided in Scotia, NY where they raised Morgan.
David had a passion for hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and exploring the outdoors. He enjoyed going to his family’s hunting camp every chance he got in Benson, NY with his father, David E. Wanmer and cousin, Paul Wanmer. When not exploring the outdoors, David could be found mowing someone’s lawn or spending time with his grandkids. He was known for his great sense of humor and his contagious laugh.
David was preceded in death by his uncle, Jack Smith, and cousin, Jennifer (Saladin) Ruffing. He is survived by his parents David E. and Beverly (Saladin) Wanmer; his wife, Leslie (Wright) Wanmer and daughter, Morgan Wanmer. His memory will be cherished by his siblings, Kimberly Semon (Angelo), Kimberly Andrews and Dan MacAndrews (Helen). David will be remembered as the “fun uncle” by Felicity Andrews, Angelo Semon Jr., Rowan and Declan MacAndrews. David will be remembered as “Pa” by his two granddaughters, Kaylie Marie Bekkering and Viviana Maria Chimento. David is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The calling hours for David are open to anyone who wishes to pay their respects and will take place at Glenville Funeral Home on Thursday, December 10th from 4-7:00pm. The funeral service will take place Friday, December 11th at 10:00 am. Glenville Funeral Home is located at 9 Glenridge Road Glenville, NY 12302. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed by the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery on Glenridge Road in Glenville, NY. Celebration of life will be planned for Summer 2021.
