Vincenza Macherone DeNofio

Obituary of Vincenza Jane Macherone DeNofio

Vincenza “Jane” Macherone DeNofio, 98, passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on December 30, 2020.

Born on November 21, 1922, in Schenectady, NY, to late parents Anthony and Mary (Villano) Cagnina.  She was a long-time parishioner of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in the Bellevue section of Schenectady.

To continue her memory is her loving family, sister Victoria Cook, her children Salvatore (Mary) Macherone, Anthony (Diane) Macherone, Victoria Lawya, Dominick (Chris) Macherone, David (Mary) DeNofio, her daughter-in-law Debbie Macherone, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, “adopted” son Larry France and all those who had the privilege to know her. She is predeceased by her husband, ex-husband, her brothers Joseph Cagnina, Anthony “Babe” Cagnina and Albert Prysmont, sister Julia Pezzano, her beloved son Robert, son-in-law Michael Lawya and her great-grandchild Tyler Hart. With compassion and strength, she raised all her children as a single mother.

For 17 years she worked as a housekeeping supervisor at St. Clare’s Hospital.

Her work ethic and dedication as a mother was unmatched. She showed resilience as the matriarch of her family. Jane’s joy in life was feeding, both physically and emotionally, her family and everyone she met.

She enjoyed watching the Yankees and doing jigsaw puzzles, but mostly just having her family by her side.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Doctor Christopher Buff, D.O. and Doctor Jeffrey Wilson, DDS for the many years of love and care they provided to Mom.

Private entombment and funeral service officiated by Father Richard Carlino will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. A public memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later day.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Schenectady City Mission Food Program, 839 Albany Street, Schenectady, NY. Online condolences at glenvillefuneralhome.com
