Condolences from a Canadian friend
.I was saddened to hear of Gloria’s passing. My husband and I as Snowbirds spent many winters in Sarasota and had the pleasure of knowing Bob and Gloria. We enjoyed our bridge games , happy hour potlucks and sharing stories of our families together. They were such an endearing couple, making a difference wherever they went.

Dear Liz, Chris, Matt and family,
As the kids of parents who were good friends, the Dobsons and the Browns, our memories of each other may be scant, but please know that the Brown family is sending our sincere condolences to you all at this time. We each remember your mother well and she has the warmest of places in our hearts. Through only a few intermittent visits over the decades we all still remember that twinkle in her eyes and her heartfelt inquiry, "And how are you doing?" She brought light, fun and love into every connection and certainly made this world a better place. If everyone could love as she did what an amazing world this would be - she did her part and will continue to be an inspiration to us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Valerie, Geoff and Dorothy

My best bud Gloria was a friend to everyone she met. She was a ray of sunshine,a beacon of hope. We would laugh, play dominoes, drink wine, share meals, host parties, protest, make calls for our political party, and volunteer together. She was there for me through the good times and bad. I will miss her forever until I one day get to see her on the other side. She is with her love Bob which does help me to not be as sad. I send my love to anyone who knew and loved Gloria.

My heart ached hearing of "Mrs. Dobsons" passing. Thats who she was to me until I grew up and her cards were signed Gloria! Growing up across the street from the Dobsons was a treat. I'd always know she was in the backyard with the circle of neighbors.
I just received a beautiful note from her about a month ago. Her handwriting still the same, the words on the paper just like she was talking to me. I am SO sad I did not get a chance to see her (or Bob) before they passed away. I had been in florida just after Bobs passing years ago. To Chris and Matt and Liz and all the rest of the family, my heart goes out to you all. I know the pain of losing parents and no matter what the age, you dont want them to go. Prayers to you all, so blessed that you had such wonderful parents.

Dear Family,
We are heartbroken about the untimely loss of Aunt Gloria due to Covid 19 but know that she valiantly fought this terrible disease. I spoke to her shortly before she was admitted to the hospital about measures she was taking to get well , never thinking it would be the last time that I would speak with her . She cared about others ,had a great sense of humor a twinkle in her eye and a positive attitude . A few years ago Aunt Gloria came for a visit to our home in Ma. We had a delightful mini reunion at our home with her family in Ma. It was such fun. Later we played dominoes and then it was time to say goodbye. We shared a life and I’m so grateful. During a visit to Village Gardens in Sarasota Roger and I learned that Aunt Gloria and Uncle Bob were political activists who campaigned for President Obama canvassing neighborhoods while living in Sarasota, Florida . A few weeks ago Aunt Gloria and I spoke about the joy of seeing President Obama once again campaigning for Joe Biden . Today on January 20, 2021 Aunt Gloria must be rejoicing in heaven knowing that the inauguration has safely taken place - a new day of hope .
Aunt Gloria you are looking out for us always .
We are so sad but that know that Aunt Gloria is with those who have gone before us . Perhaps she’s playing a round of tennis . Every time I make her morning glory muffins it will be in honor of her .
Her memory is a great blessing.

I have such fond memories of Gloria. What a wonderful woman and kind friend we had in Woodhaven! She was full of life and is remembered for her annual huge backyard bar-b-que and her very positive disposition. But I remember her for the extra special things she did. She had a neighborhood prayer group for our son when he was undergoing serious surgery in New York and when our daughter was born after we had three sons, I am told she put a pink towel on her flagpole to happily announce it to our community. I still think of her when I make her meat-sa-pie recipe that our fussy eater, Michael, liked at her house and remember, with amusement, when he came home from her house one time, and excitedly announced "Mom, I like chicken noodle soup"! When Gloria moved to Florida, we kept in touch somewhat with long Christmas letters. When I learned she had moved back, I was looking forward to seeing her again. So sorry to hear of her passing.
With love,
Corinne Cazer

Gloria and I always share to laugh about being dumpster-diving Buddies. She was one of the first people that I met when I moved to Village Gardens and I was renovating our condo. I needed newspaper for painting job I was doing and I couldn't reach inside the dumpster. She rode up on her bicycle & because she was taller than I, she reached in there and grabbed the for me. Hence, we became dumpster-diving Buddies. It will always be a very fond memory and I always welcomed her friendly smile and greeting. We all Loved her and miss her so very much. Hazel

Gloria asked me to help clean her condo as she prepared it for sale. As I was leaving she showed me her new carport table and chair set. She was so excited about it! I commented that what the table needed was a bottle of white wine and two glasses.
When I returned to finish cleaning I brought a bottle of wine and two glasses and arranged them on the table before going inside. After I finished my chore I called Gloria and told her to come out to the carport.
When she saw the display, her always twinkling eyes lit up and her beautiful smile made me want to laugh...yet cry...knowing we would be toasting to her new life elsewhere.
Cheers, Gloria... I hope your table is forever serving wine and other gentle spirits are always drinking with you. You are missed by so many!
