Belinda Fitzgerald

Obituary of Belinda A. Fitzgerald

Belinda A. Fitzgerald 49, of Scotia, passed into eternal life on January 26, 2021 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.  Her 14-month battle with Metastatic (Stage IV) Breast Cancer ended peacefully with her beloved husband John at her side.

Belinda was born February 21, 1971 in Middletown Ohio - the daughter of Paul and Betty Miller.  She graduated from Madison High School, Middletown in 1989.  After graduation she held several positions in the restaurant, automotive and retail sectors; finally, as a manager for the Record Town (Transworld Entertainment) chain in Southwest Ohio - where she met her future husband.  In 1997 Belinda moved to Guilderland NY to pursue her career at the company’s headquarters, working in Inventory Control and Store Services.  She used her experience at Transworld to develop a career in project coordination with Crown Castle USA, and finally, Technical Building Services in Ballston Spa NY.

In her spare time, Belinda was a devoted wife and mother, and loved to join the organizations that would forward her kids interest.  She was a leader in the Scotia Glenville PTA and PTA council, and Scotia Glenville Friends of music, holding several leadership positions in each of these organizations. Belinda was an expert fundraiser for every group she was involved in. She was also very active in scouting - with Cub Scout Pack 59 and Boy Scout troop 67 (both in Scotia).  She was awarded a Scotia Founder’s Day award for her service to the school and community.  Belinda was also an active parent in the Empire State Youth Orchestras in many capacities.  But always her main priority was the success of her children.

She is survived by her husband John, daughter Ashley N. Smith of Ballston Spa and Liam K. Fitzgerald of Scotia; mother Betty Miller of Middletown, OH, sister Teresa Carpenter (Bill) of Benton, KY and sister in law Betty-Ann Miller of Middletown, as well as several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her Father Paul Miller of Middletown OH and brothers Eddie L. Miller and Paul Miller Jr. both of Middletown OH.
