Obituary of Louise Margaret Mills

Dateline: Malta, New York

Louise Margaret Mills (Williams) beloved mother, sister and grandmother, age 85, passed away peacefully on Valentine’s Day – February 14, 2021 at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Malta. Born in Rexford on August 25, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Marion “Jack” Williams and Julia Cornell.  Louise lived much of her life in the Rexford/Scotia area and was proud to call it home, although she also traveled extensively, living in many states as well as Morocco and Germany. She was a 1953 graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School, and she enjoyed helping to organize many reunions with her classmates. Louise owned and operated several consignment stores in Scotia and Burnt Hills. The first of which, “Chapter Two”, opened in 1980. Later she opened the White Dove Gift Boutique in Scotia, eventually returning to the consignment business with her final shop “Louise’s Designer Consignment Boutique” in Altamont in 1999.   For over 25 years, Louise used her businesses as a means to contribute to her community, donating clothes to anyone she knew and many she didn’t.  Louise especially enjoyed working with Northeast Child and Parent Society to provide prom dresses to students that couldn’t afford them. Louise was a certified interior decorator and loved to help family and friends decorate their homes. She was honored to be part of the renovation of the New York State Governor’s Mansion undertaken by Matilda Cuomo.  Above all she loved caring for and spending time with her beloved family.  Survivors include her children Linda (Caleb) Wistar, Gary Svetlik, Theresa (Richard Arnold) Morris and Michael (Leslie) Mills. Her grandchildren Emily (Daniel Hammer) Wistar, Aaron (Caroline Kao) Wistar, Carly Svetlik , Alaina Mills, Sarah Mills, Taylor Arnold and Kyla Arnold. Louise is also survived by her great grandchildren Lily Hammer, Iris Wao, and Caleb Hammer and her brothers and sisters Donald (Cindy) Williams, Thomas Williams, Barbara Hartley and Jeanne Miller. Also survived are many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Louise was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Home of the Good Shepherd for the kind and loving care they provided over the past years.  Thanks also to Community Hospice for their compassionate care during Louise’s final days.
