Tanya Pritchard

Obituary of Tanya Michele Pritchard

Tanya Michele Pritchard, 50, passed away suddenly on March 7, 2021. Born in Long Beach, California she was the daughter of David Foss and the late Sharon (Curtis) Foss. Tanya married her high school sweetheart, David Pritchard on February 15, 1997 in San Francisco, California. Tanya was an enlightened soul with a deep power of perception. She believed in equal rights for all life and was an advocate of social and environmental justice. Tanya was a very talented photographer and poet, able to turn a simple texture of tree bark into high art and her poetry was unique with insight and sharp wit. Music was a central part of her and David's lives, always informing their deeper emotional existence. Both her and David lived all over the world including Malaysia and Germany and since 2013 making Glenville their home. Tanya was an intrepid but conscientious traveler, open to new people and cultures and was especially in love with Cambodia, spending many weeks there on her own having amazing adventures.  Tanya’s desire to help animals brought her much comfort. She volunteered at the Animal Rescue Foundation in Beacon, NY, Darlington County Humane Society in Darlington, SC and the Peaceful Acres Horses in Pattersonville, NY. When working with animals, her gentle spirit allowed her to become a specialist in working with the quarantined horses that first arrived to the rescue. Tanya also helped find hundreds of dogs find a forever home in the astounding dog relay transport from SC to NY and Vermont coordinated by the Darlington Humane Society. She will forever be remembered for her kind heart and beautiful intelligence.

Tanya is survived by her husband David C. Pritchard, her father David S. Foss and brother Scott A. Foss (and his spouse Lilly).
