Elvira Neumann

Obituary of Elvira B. Neumann

On March 20, 2021, Heaven embraced our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and received her for peaceful eternity. Elvira B. Neumann lived her life of 94 years guided by faith, focused on family, and fulfilled by love.

Born in Whitehall, NY, to the late Anthony and Catherine Scott, she completed high school there and later earned her degree in dental hygiene in Rochester. She worked in that capacity in Schenectady where she would meet her future husband of 55 years, Clarence 'Fritz' Neumann. She is predeceased by her three sisters: Madeline, Irene, and Julia and her five brothers Joseph, Gino, Emilio, Anthony, and Edward.

She is survived by her daughter Jean Marie (Cornelius) Malone, and her four sons David Frederick(Jan), Christopher John (Nancy), Paul Anthony (Sandra), and Gary Joseph (Patricia); as well as her six adored and adoring granddaughters, Lindsay Carroll (Gregory), Alisha Flannery (Patrick), Christine, Kara Phillips (Tyler), Danielle, Catherine and four grandsons, Trent, Phillip, Alex (Stefani), and William; as well as four great great grandchildren, Patrick, Charlotte, Olivia, and Kylo.

As a shining example of the Greatest Generation, she overcame life challenges through faith, family, and unmitigated effort. She imbued these defining characteristics to her family through daily examples. She was, as one daughter-in-law has said, a beautiful pillar of strength. At every opportunity her greatest, beaming joy could be found in spending time with her family. Blessed with a wonderful, quick wit - a perfect day for her was any that included conversation and humor around the kitchen table.

An ambitious humanitarian, for over 25 years she served as founding manager of a thrift store, the Elite Repeat Boutique, which provided benefits to St. Clare's Hospital and many needy residents of Schenectady. She also managed an academic scholarship designed by Fritz and her to benefit matriculating students of their church.

We cannot express her life of profound faith through words but will continue to feel blessed that Elvira's life will forever be part of ours. The family wishes to thank those associated with her loving care including Home Instead and Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services for Elvira will be private for her family. She will be laid to rest at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
