Obituary of Emma E. Farrington

Emma E. Farrington, 95, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving children.

Emma was born on February 11, 1926 in Herkimer, New York to Ann Marie and John Schneider. Her family would eventually settle in Glenville, where her family raised dairy cattle for milk. Emma attended Scotia Glenville High School, where she later met her husband, Guy, while riding the school bus, and would graduate in 1944. She attended college at SUNY Cobleskill, where she found her passion and majored in Early Childhood Education, and would later pursue her career while teaching Preschool at Trinity Nursery School from the early 50’s through mid-80’s. Finally, Emma received the position as Director for the Children’s Educational Program at the Schenectady Museum where she would eventually retire.

Emma loved traveling with her family throughout the United States in their travel trailer, and once retired, would travel Europe with her husband, Guy. She enjoyed square dancing, scrapbooking, reading historical novels, flower arranging, cake decorating and gardening; and will be remembered for her smile and willingness to help others.

Emma is predeceased by her beloved husband, Guy Farrington, in 2012, and her brother, Carl.

Emma is survived by her loving children, Wayne (Maggie) and Dawn Farrington (Bob Lavonier); grandchildren, Kristin Hillger, Ross and Adam Farrington; great-grandchildren, Clayton, Reagan, Logan, Hudson and Haddie.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 10-11AM with a service to follow at 11AM at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville.
