Obituary of Lillian V. Calarco

 

Lillian V. Calarco, (nee:Patti), 94, passed away peacefully June 19, 2021 with her family at her side.  Born in Grand Rapids, MI on October 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mamie Franzone Patti. She was married to Sylvester (Babe) Calarco on August 31st  1946 and resided in Schenectady, New York.  Lillian was involved with her husband in the wholesale food business, Calarco Foods from 1958 to 1981. Sylvester and Lillian loved to take trips, whether it was Disney World or a cruise they loved the adventure. Sylvester died on April 18, 1999. In her later years she worked at Marshalls where she enjoyed meeting new customers and making lifelong friends. Her greatest joy in life was cooking. On Sundays you could find her in the kitchen preparing sauce and chicken cutlets for a crowded table of family. At Christmas she loved preparing boxes of cookies and treats and once a year during Easter she would make her famous cannoli. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady.

Lillian was also predeceased by her sister Virginia Bates.

Survivors include her son, Thomas P. Calarco; daughters, Sally Bywater, Carolyn Young (late William) and Terry Gabriele (Bernardi); a sister, Theresa Krejci and seven grandchildren: Kyle Colangelo, Christopher (Lauren) Young, Jennifer (Rick) Peirson, Julie (Jeffrey) Grover, Michael (Julia Rinaolo), Lauren and Carly Gabriele. Five cherished great grandchildren: Olivia and Ella Young, J.J. Reale and Lilly and Kate Grover. Lil had numerous nieces and nephews and will be missed by her lifelong friend, Florence Napolitana. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (June 22) 11 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St. Schenectady. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to calling hours on Tuesday from 9 AM to 10 AM at the GLENVILLE FUNERAL HOME, 9 Glenridge Rd. Scotia-Glenville. Interment will follow Mass at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Avenue Schenectady.  Donations may be made to Community Hospice.
