Glenville – Robert ‘Rob’ Ahern Meade, 62, of Glenville passed away peacefully August 1, 2021, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born in Utica, NY, on December 16, 1958, he was the son of the late Robert J. Meade and Ann (Ahern) Meade. Rob graduated from Burnt Hills–Ballston Lake High School in June 1977. From there he studied at Becker College in MA and SUNY Oswego where he received his B.A. in Communications. He started his career in New Rochelle, NY working in radio. Most recently he worked at R.P.I for 13 years.

Rob had many interests, most notably his love of horseracing. Rob could be found in his ‘spot’ at Saratoga if one knew where to look, and his devotion to the sport was captured in paint by a local artist as he analyzed the racing forms. Rob also loved his annual ‘Blues’ fishing trip to Cape Cod with his closest friends and family. He loved to camp, canoe, play golf and softball, and he was an avid reader. Rob’s greatest love was for his three children, and he was so proud of each of them.

Survivors include his son Michael, and daughters Kelly and Laura of Glenville, brother Kevin (Mary Ann) Meade of Glenville, former wife Kay Meade of Scotia, sister Kathleen (Tom) Bradley of Ballston Lake and brother Tom (Michelle) Meade of Arkansas, along with many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his life-long friends whom he loved dearly, and who provided much comfort in his remaining days reminiscing about all the fun they had when they were younger; Mark Aseltine, Brud Bicknell, Craig Miller and Dave Roecker, and special family friend Joann Dunham. He is also survived by his faithful canine companion Derby.

Calling hours for Rob will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 4-7pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Funeral services will follow at 7pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rob’s name may be made to the Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital, 43 New Scotland Ave. MC 119, Albany, NY 12208.
