Obituary of Paula Lynne O'Shea

On August 1, 2021, Paula Lynne O’Shea, 64, of Scotia-Glenville unexpectedly left our world to be reunited with her loved ones who passed before her. Her beautiful personality and huge heart lives on with her legacy.

Born in Massena, NY to her late parents, Douglas and Shirley (Faraday) Peck. She was a 1973  graduate from Massena High School.  She attended SUNY Canton where she met her late husband, Steven O’Shea. They were married in October of 76, and began their family in Norfolk, NY.

In 1991 they planted their roots in Scotia-Glenville.

Besides being a devoted wife, and mother, Paula worked most of her career as a banker for 1st National Bank of Scotia. Many people will remember her kindness and bright smile from the many bank locations. Her involvement in the community included the local food pantry and being a devoted member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Scotia, as well as the Order of the Daughters of the King. Paula was a humble and selfless person, she always saw the best in people and was the first to offer a helping hand.

Her family was everything to her. The memories they made at the Lake house on Sacandaga Lake and the many summers at Fish Creek, as well as, the many trips to Florida and Maine will forever be cherished. Paula made every get together a “big deal”, she was a wonderful cook (that mac n’cheese!), and baked the most delicious treats especially her Christmas cookies and famous cream puffs. She found happiness everywhere in life, she loved  butterflies and dolphins, the Buffalo Bills, and anything Disney; she also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, watching NASCAR, swimming in her pool, and being with friends over a glass of wine.

Paula lived her life to the fullest, loved with her whole heart, and left a positive impression on everyone she met. Her friendship and love will be missed by all.

Survived by her loving son, constant test of patience and source of pride, Shawn (Heather) O’Shea;. Her best friend, adventure partner and daughter, Tamara O’Shea Hanzalik (Matt Hanzalik). Cherished grandchildren, Connor O’Shea, Aiden and Liam Hanzalik. Siblings, Jim (Cathy) Peck, Dave (Tina) Peck, and Karen (Jon) Foster; as well as her beloved brother and sister-in-laws; many nephews, nieces and cousins. Paula always loved her pets, Jesse, Dexter, Sassy, Bella and Penelope.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Steven O’Shea; daughter, Shelly Ann O’Shea; brothers, Stanley and Allan Peck; as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.
