Obituary of Katharine K. Dannenberg
Niskayuna – Katharine K. Dannenberg (91) of Grenoside Ave., made her transition to the next life on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
Katharine was born in Utica, NY on July 20, 1930, the daughter of the late James Warner Kellogg Jr. and Elizabeth Brainard Kellogg Jr. She was a graduate of Nottingham High School in Syracuse and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Elmira College in Elmira, NY. Katharine also took courses in religious education at Catholic University in Washington DC and has studied at the Holistic Studies Institute in Albany, NY. Katharine began her teaching career at St. Anthony’s School in Washington DC and continued teaching at the public elementary level in Utica, Saquoit, and Schenectady, NY. Her experiences also included teaching adults in Americanization courses in order to gain citizenship. Katharine also taught English as a second language for children in the Schenectady School District and ultimately retired from the Paige School. She taught religious education at Our Lady of Fatima Church and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic schools. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in in Schenectady, a member of New York State United Teachers, National Education Association, and the Elmira College Club.
Katherine is predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth Mary (David) Dietz. Surviving are her sons
James Christian (Larissa) Dannenberg and Michael David Dannenberg. Eight grandchildren: Katharine (Kevin) Curtis, David and Scott Dannenberg, Douglas and
Kristina Hutchins, and Oksana, Kalyna and Maksym Dannenberg and three great-grandchildren: Kenzie and Keegan Curtis and Aubrianna Dannenberg also survive.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 9:00AM at St. Kateri Tekakwitha on 2216 Rosa Rd. in Schenectady, NY. Burial will be private in the family plot at Waterville Cemetery in Waterville, NY. Condolences can be offered at https://GlenvilleFuneralHome.com
