Obituary of John Cummings

John B. Cummings, 92, of Callaghan Blvd. died suddenly August 22, 2013. John was born in Perth, NY and graduated from Perth High School. John proudly served in the USMC and upon his return received a degree in marketing from Siena College in Loudonville. He was married to Martha Redyke on October 29, 1955 at First Presbyterian Church in Schenectady. The couple have lived in Charlton since 1951. John was a tax accountant for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, retiring in 1986. When the children were young he enjoyed taking them to various sporting events, especially to the old Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. He and Martha wintered two months every year in Florida until he could no longer. His passion was traveling and enjoying food. John was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Elizabeth Goodwin Cummings, a son William in 1962 and his brother William Cummings. Survivors include his wife Martha, their sons, John David (Louise) Cummings of Burbank, Ill, Mark Cummings of Beckley, West VA and a daughter Carol (Frank) Greco of Amsterdam, NY. Five grandchildren; Frankie, Christopher and Benjamin Greco and Taylor and Madison Cummings; a brother Raymond Cummings of Georgia and sister Mary Lou Maines of Arizona as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Monday, August 25 at 11:00 AM at Faith Baptist Church (Corner of Glenridge Rd. and Bradt Rd.) Rexford, with Pastor Bob Port officiating. A calling hour will precede the service at the church from 10 AM to 11 Am. Burial will be in Hagaman Mills Cemetery, Hagaman, NY In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in John B.
