Obituary of Sandra K. Denney

Sandra K. Denney, 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on October 26, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. 

Born in Marshalltown, Iowa she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Doris (Sawtelle) Doty Sr.. Sandy was a graduate of Crown Point High School in Crown Point, Indiana and went on to continue her education at Indiana University. She was married to her beloved late husband James R. Denney Jr. for 56 years, until his passing in 2020. Sandra worked in the hospitality industry for 25 years and was a board member of the Empire State Society of Association Executives. She enjoyed staying up to date on public affairs, music, reading and spending time in nature. Above all, she cherished her time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children James W. Denney (Suzanne), Lisa Denney, Jonathan Denney (Marie), Jeffrey Denney (Cindy) as well as grandchildren James (Ali), Kayleigh, Sarah, Mary (Will), Ryan, Peyton, Oliver, Jonna, Caitlin and Jessica. Sandy is also survived by her special niece Denise Lewis, nephew Mark Doty and several other nieces, nephews and many extended family members.

In addition to her parents and husband James, Sandra was predeceased by her grandson Kevin Denney, brothers Alfred Doty (surviving Janice), Gary Doty and sister Constance Pugh (Daniel).

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday October 30, 2021 from 9-10:30am at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A celebration of life service will follow at 10:30am, which will also be live-streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
