Obituary of Susan A. Rice

Susan A. Rice, 57, passed away peacefully with her beloved family by her side on November 5, 2021 at Ellis Hospital. Susan was born in Niskayuna on February 17, 1964,  and was a lifelong resident of Scotia-Glenville. She was a 1982 graduate of Scotia-Glenville HS. 

Susan’s passion for caring for others lead her, in 2017, to her current employment at Home Instead Senior Care in Schenectady. She was an active volunteer annually with the Melodies of Christmas, Alzheimer’s Association, S.G. Girl Scout Troop 2596, and at Boulevard Bowl assisting disabled bowlers. For many years, Susan was a member of the Schenectady chapter of BPW.

Susan loved her fur babies, Carly and Sophia, along with Sydney, Biggs, and Peanut.

The memories she held closest to her heart were the ones she spent with her family and close friends.

Susan is survived by her beloved husband of 27 years, Ronald L. Rice, her cherished daughter Shelby M. Rice, her mother Kathleen Van Hoesen, and sister Sharon (Howard) Wagenberg, and many great friends and loved ones.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 10th, 2021 from 3-7PM at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville New York.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Susan's name may be directed to the National Breast Cancer Foundation or to the Alzheimer's Association.
