Obituary of Jane Johnson

Jane E. Johnson, 85, died peacefully at her home August 30, 2013, her loving family by her bedside. Born in Schenectady on July 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Reiff Van Patten. Jane was a graduate of Draper High School. She was married in 1950 to Francis "Hager" Johnson and moved to Glenville soon following. A decision was made to move to "Cape Cod" and the Johnson's resided in Harwich, MA in 1989. Later they moved to Cleverdale, NY also to be next to the water. Jane loved being close to the water and enjoyed many years with her husband doing just that. She was involved with the Harwich Cranberry Festival, enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds who thrived in her backyard and excelled at crafts of all types. Following the passing away of Francis in 2004 she volunteered at the Baptist Health Center in Scotia. Jane was happy to reconnect with her close friends over the years and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. The family wishes to thank her primary care physician Dr. John Pezzulo who made her comfortable as possible throughout her illness. It was Jane's strong faith that guided her to take natural measures that ensured her the dignity and peacefulness to remain at home. Survivors include her daughters, Pamela Howell and Penny Dunleavy, both of Ballston Lake and grandchildren, Mark Howell, Patrick and Carley Dunleavy. A private graveside service in West Charlton Cemetery will be conducted at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
