Obituary of Herman J. Reynolds

Herman J. Reynolds (Captain Jack), 91, passed away at his home peacefully of natural causes on November 15, 2021.

Born in Nyack, New York on April 30, 1930 he was the son of the late Vernon and Ethel Reynolds.

After graduating high school in the north country, Jack went into the US Navy where he served from 1948 – 1952 as an Engineer in the engine room and was honorably discharged after that. At this time, he started working for General Electric as a Field Engineer / Engineering Manager until he retired in 1995. Jack was married to his beloved wife Joan (Delametter) Reynolds for many years until her passing in 2002.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, traveling with the family, especially to Marco Island where he had his dream home. Jack was an animal lover, particularly when it came to his dogs Casey and Bridie.

He loved to lend a helping hand, working on cars, fixing appliances, TV, house repairs or anything one needed. Jack also loved dancing, mainly the jitterbug and listening to Chet Akins and Eddy Arnold.

In addition to his wife, Joan Reynolds, he was predeceased by his son Michael “Mike” Reynolds in 2014.

Left to cherish Jack’s memory is his son Daniel Reynolds (Cindy), grandchildren Dylan Reynolds, Jarrett Reynolds, Sean Reynolds, Carly Feldman and Andrea Reynolds. Also surviving are his great grandchildren Lillyana Rose Reynolds, James Feldman and Jacob Feldman.

Calling hours for Jack will be held on Friday November 19, 2021 from 6-8pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville.  Interment with military honors will take place on Monday November 22,2021 at 10:30am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Those wishing to follow in procession please meet at the funeral home for 9:15am.
