Obituary of Irene O. Healey

Irene O. Healey, 103, entered eternal life on December 16, 2021. She passed away peacefully at Glendale Rehabilitation and Nursing Center where she resided the past several years.

She was predeceased by her husband William J. Healey in 1971 and is now reunited with him.  Born in Schenectady on May 29, 1918, she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Burris) Palmer.

A 1936 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in the neighborhood she grew up in, she took the G.E. Apprentice Courses and began a career at G.E. Co. for 42 years.  Irene worked as an assembler and took great pride in her work, especially during the war effort in WWII. She was of the Catholic Faith.

She was loving, kind, and possessed a keen wit. She was always wise and provided great counsel to many, often through stories. She loved her family and friends and brought joy to all. Irene especially enjoyed her animals. 

She was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy MacFarland, and Gladys Carter.

Irene was survived by nieces Rebecca Carter, Irene Aven, and nephew William Carter (Janice), as well as numerous nieces and nephews of the Healey family. 

Funeral services at the Healey Family Plot at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery will be private. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Glenville Funeral Home
