Obituary of Arlene D. Hartung-Bunnecke

Dateline: Clifton Park

Arlene D. Hartung-Bunnecke, 83, entered into eternal rest peacefully on December 19, 2021. Born April 9, 1938, in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of late Anthony Dargus and Mary (Tatara). Arlene was a 1956 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Following high school, she worked for General Electric Company in Schenectady as a secretary. Arlene was a dedicated homemaker while raising her three children. Once the children were grown, she was employed by the Schenectady Trust Company in Clifton Park as a bank teller. Later she went to work for Bollam Sheedy Torani & Co. LLP in Albany as an administrative assistant. Arlene married her late husband Robert J. Bunnecke on January 1, 1991. She was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church choir and the Clifton Park Widows Group. Arlene found joy in many things: seeing people open Christmas presents, tending her gardens, having visits with friends and family, bus trips to national parks and cities, organizing her photo albums, outsmarting squirrels at the bird feeders, jokes and cartoons, jigsaw puzzles, Scrabble, music and TV. She made sure to stay up on current events. Above all, Arlene cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her attention to detail, and her generosity.

Arlene is survived by her children, Robert Hartung, Eric Hartung (Suzanne Schneider) and Pamela Biro (Stephen); her stepchildren; Elizabeth Brennan (Michael), Anne Zucker (Richard) and Jean Bunnecke (Michael Deines). Also surviving are several grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Marilyn Sapone, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her stepfather Francis Bush, husband Robert J. Bunnecke and her brother Robert Dargus.

Calling hours will be held on December 22, 2021, from 5-7pm at the Glenville Funeral Home 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. Funeral services will be held on December 23, 2021, at 9:30am at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
