Obituary of Elizabeth Louise DeNoble

Elizabeth “Betty" Louise DeNoble, 91, passed peacefully on January 6, 2022 surrounded by loved ones in Houston, TX. Born in Philadelphia, PA on November 2, 1930, to the late Max and Wilhelmina (Geitner) Rost. She was raised in the Ridgewood area of Brooklyn and attended Grover Cleveland High School. 

 

Throughout her life, Betty had a strong faith and loved Jesus. While attending Bible School in New York City she met the love of her life, Kenneth DeNoble Jr. They were married in Brooklyn, NY on June 17, 1951. Kenneth and Betty had a beautiful relationship that served as the foundation of their family.

 

She had the opportunity to live in many places, including, Rhode Island, Upstate New York, Vermont, Wisconsin. In each location, she found ways to fulfill her passion for children and helping those less fortunate. She worked with the handicapped, both in day camp and at sheltered workshops. 

 

In Vermont, she taught kindergarten and later served as director of the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Bennington. After moving back to New York she worked as an aide at Sanford Home for Seniors in Amsterdam and Ellis Nursing Home in Schenectady. In every endeavor, she always made a point to share God’s love with those around her. 

 

Betty loved classical music, especially Bach and Mozart. She enjoyed playing the piano while friends and family sang cherished hymns of faith. She also had a passion for jigsaw puzzles. 

 

Predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Kenneth DeNoble Jr., and sister, Anna Rost. 

 

To continue Betty’s memory is her loving children, David DeNoble, John (Heidi) DeNoble, and Ruth (Robert) Kirkman; cherished grandchildren, Rachel DeNoble Battaglioli, Seth (Shannon) DeNoble, Adam (Abby) Kirkman, Matthew (Elzette) DeNoble, Hannah Levi, Emily (Merwin) Severtson, Andrew Kirkman, Ethan Kirkman, Peter DeNoble, Abigail DeNoble, Noah (Abby) Kirkman, Chavaleh (Tristan) Deforest; and 18 great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins, Annie Ritzema, Barbara Geitner, and Peter Geitner. 

 

Funeral Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 209 Union St, Schenectady on Monday, January 31st at 11:30 AM. Internment will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. 

 

Memorial contributions in honor of Betty may be made to Schenectady Right to Life, PO Box 9231, Schenectady, NY 12309.
