Obituary of Michael P. Baker

Michael P Baker, 65, entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 16, 2022, after having been stricken at Gore Mountain on Friday, January 14, 2022, in an effort to honor and fulfill his organ and tissue donation request.

Mike (‘Bakes’) was born on December 16, 1956 in Troy, NY to the late George R. and Wanda J. (Zuzick) Baker. He graduated from BH-BL High School (1975) and went on to earn his AAS from HVCC in Electrical Engineering. Employed for 35 years, Mike retired as a Specialist at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna NY. 

An avid outdoorsman, Mike enjoyed mountain activities, such as camping, hiking, canoeing, skiing, volleyball and nature photography. After his KAPL retirement, he worked at Whiteface Mountain Ski Patrol, was an Ambassador at Stowe Mountain and was a groundskeeper at the Edison Club in Rexford. He was an active member of the Out of Control Ski Club, where he made many lifelong friends. He also enjoyed listening to music, including his favorite band, the Grateful Dead.

Michael is survived by his siblings, Thomas (Deborah) Baker, Richard Baker, David (Maryann) Baker, Daniel (Julie) Baker and Susanne (Thomas) Clark; his cherished nieces and nephews, Eric (Kristen) Baker, Mark Baker, Jessica Baker, Rachael (DJ) Clark and Brandon Clark; his two great nieces, Georgia and Savannah Centofanti; Aunts, Uncles and many, many lifelong friends.

Calling hours will be 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at the Glenville Funeral Home located at 9 Glenridge Road in Glenville NY, followed by a Celebration of Life held at 3:00 PM. Service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/GlenvilleFuneralHome
