Obituary of Julie Goodfriend

Julie Ann Kodesch Goodfriend, died Wednesday, September 11th, 2013, after a long battle with colon cancer. She was 54 years old. Born October 17, 1957 to Toni & Chuck Kodesch, Julie was one of five children. Life in Scotia during the fifties and early sixties was fun and carefree. They walked to school and played on the way home. After dinner they would play outside till the street lights came on. Summer vacations with family were spent at Long Lake and Cape Cod. Cape Cod was Julie's favorite after she had her children it was their favorite too. Creating some multi-generation memories that will never be forgotten and endless supply of seashells scattered around their pool at home. When asked what her greatest accomplishment was, she would always say her children. She had so much pride in everything they did. She never missed a sports event, dance recital, chorus concert or school play. In 1997, Julie met the love of her life, Keith Goodfriend; they were married a year later on September 17, 1998. They enjoyed many adventures, including hikes in the Catskills and Adirondacks. Jaunts to the east coast from Maine to Key West, Florida. Home is truly where her heart was though, she enjoyed gardening, decorating, painting, designing and creating a family home. Where she could do crafts with the children, throw big birthday parties and entertain. Julie worked as the bookkeeper for many years at Ramark-Varden Photography Studio. She was an active member of the Schenectady Mothers of Twins Club; she served as Treasurer and also as Vice President. While she was raising her children she returned to school and graduated with a Degree in Business Administration and later she earned her BS in Business Management & Economics. Her business career was primarily in financial services. She worked for KPMG, Scotia-Glenville CSD, NYS Teachers Retirement System, Schenectady County Community College and her final position before retiring due to illness was as the Director of Finance for NYSH&TA. Those of you who had the pleasure of working with her will remember her good morning wishes along with a genuine smile to brighten the day.
