Obituary of Gwendolyn C. Clark

Gwendolyn Ann Chase Clark, 90, of Troy, New York, peacefully passed surrounded by loved ones on March 23, 2022. Born in Scranton, Pa. to her late parents, Forrest and Elizabeth (White) Chase.
A 1948 graduate of Tech High School in Scranton, Pa., at an early age, Gwendolyn found her love for music and became a talented vocalist with the Shubert Club under the direction of Gounod Evans. After graduation, she went on to work for Bell Telephone Company in Scranton and State College, Pa. She was also a member of the Welsh Women’s Society.

In 1957, she married her late husband Robert Ronald Clark. Together they raised four girls in Apalachin, N.Y. Gwendolyn instilled a love for music in her daughters. When Robert passed, Gwendolyn found strength in being the matriarch of her family, her family was the most important part of her life.
For many years, Gwendolyn worked for the Owego-Apalachin School District as a library assistant. In Owego, Gwendolyn was very active in her community, she was a member of the Garden Club, Tioga Community Chorus, and the First Presbyterian Church in Owego.

She enjoyed going to the theatre in New York City, traveling, cooking and baking, especially making pies and Christmas cookies. Gwendolyn loved Christmas — the shopping, the decorating and time spent with family, enjoying dishes that would become family favorites. Gwendolyn radiated charm and grace, and will be remembered as warm and welcoming, loving and kind, and having a great sense of humor.
She was predeceased by her husband; and sister, Barbara Chase Clifford.

She is survived by her loving children, Ellen Clark-Cruz (Adan Cruz-Lopez), Laurie Clark Huck (William), Judith Clark (Barry Kleinfeld) and Wendy Stafford (Will); cherished grandchildren, Roberto Cruz, Jesus Cruz, Julio Cruz, Forrest Chase Larson, Olivia Larson, Ravi Kleinfeld, Benny Stafford and Billy Stafford; and several nieces and one nephew.
