I work as a poll worker for the Board of Elections. A few years ago I was assigned to work at the Glendale Nursing Home to assist any patients who had registered to vote that year. That is where I met Lauren---and meeting her had a big impact on me!!!! I was impressed with everything about her! Her smile was a giveaway to a personality that was amazingly upbeat! She was very interested in, and aware of, the details of that year's election. I loved her style and her room! We talked a lot about that! Somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas of that year I was in a gift shop and saw a scarf that reminded me of her. I went to Glendale to bring it to her -- she wasn't in her room--I was told she was at a party downstairs--kind of like a "happy hour" sing-a-long!!!! And a happy hour sing along it was!!! A full house!!--- And there she was -- in the front row, singing with a huge smile on her face laughing with the dj and the people next to her!!!!! I loved it!!!!! I didn't want to bother her---I just sneaked in between the rows and handed the package to her. Again that smile!!!!!!!! And now when I saw her face in the paper I knew it was her but had to read it to be sure. I am so sad to see that she has passed. I'm sure she will be missed by so many -- not just her family--but the staff at Glendale and anyone who ever met her---like me--I won't forget her face, her room or her smile. Roma Barbera
