Bob Iagrossi

Obituary of Bob Iagrossi

DATELINE: CLIFTON PARK, NY

It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of our brother, uncle, and friend, Bob Iagrossi. Bob was born on April 12, 1935 to Domenick and Rose Iagrossi in Schenectady, NY.

Bobby, as we all knew him, was a special education teacher at BOCES stationed in Guilderland for over 30 years. He was known for his ability to deal with problem students. He began his teaching career at Mohonasen High School as a Latin teacher then later as a history teacher. Bobby transferred to Burnt Hills for two years before beginning his long teaching career with BOCES.

Bobby graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School where he played varsity football with his brother, Donny. He then graduated from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY. He received additional degrees at both Siena and St. Rose.

Bobby was a religious man, who never preached to anyone about their beliefs. He showed his faith through his works and in his actions. For years, he volunteered to work in soup kitchens in Albany and Troy. Never one to criticize or judge, he truly was a gentleman who lived by example.

An avid reader, Bobby especially enjoyed books on history. He loved horse racing and watching sports, his teams were the New York Yankees and Notre Dame Football. When the Saratoga Racecourse was open for the season, that is where you could find Bob and his brother Tony, they were called “the boys of summer”, even though they were far from boys. For years, they had season tickets in the club house provided by their friend, Chris Welfley.

Family was the most important element of Bobby’s life. He and his brothers, Diamonte, Donny, and Tony Iagrossi, with his sister, Marie Ghezzo, stuck together not because they had to, but because they wanted to; their mother, Rose, taught them to love one another and they did. He will be missed greatly by his brother, buddy, and very best friend, Tony, who will be eternally grateful for his companionship, kindness, and love.

Bob will be especially missed by his family, nieces Darlene D’Antonio (Johnny), Dena Iagrossi, nephew, Dominic Iagrossi; cousins, Frank Bertoli, Bob Tiscione, Josephine Parchetta; great-nephews, Dominic Iagrossi Jr., Daniella Iagrossi and Sonny D’Antonio; and his brother-in-law, Mario Ghezzo. He was predeceased by his late niece, Donna Iagrossi.

The family wishes to thank the nurses at St. Peter’s Hospital. Also, a special thank you to his nephew, Dominic, brother-in-law, Mario, and Bobby’s caregivers, Jennifer Rielly, who would always go the extra mile to help, and Heather Brunnel.

Family and friends are invited to a calling period at Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake on Wednesday, April 27th from 10 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
