Obituary of Judy M. Wheeler

Judy M. Wheeler, 68, passed away on April 28, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville. Born in Troy, NY she was the daughter of the late John and Florence (Maynard) McLoughlin. Judy was a 1972 graduate of Catholic Central High School. Once her children were born, she proudly went on to continue her education from Memorial School of Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse. She was a dedicated nurse for many years, working for the Center for Disability Services, MVP, Reed Group and most recently Ellis Hospital Mental Health Clinic, retiring in 2018. Judy enjoyed music, dancing, her floral gardens and shopping. One could often find her cheering for her favorite sports team the NY Giants. She appreciated trips to Woodstock, Atlantic City to the casino and loved being anywhere near the water. She found great joy in antiquing with her family. Judy was a member of the Goose Hill Neighborhood Association and always looked forward to her porch night with the ladies. Above all she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Judy will be remembered for being the life of the party. Her compassionate, spunky demeanor will live on in all that knew her.

Left to cherish Judy’s memory are her daughters Kiera Hovey (Curtis) and Kayla Oechsner (Edward, III), her grandchildren Rachael, Tiffany, Cymantha, Joshua, Kyleigh, Madyson, Elaine, Myah, John IV, Kennedy, Edward IV, Theodore and her great grandchildren Emma, Seth, Sophia, Riley, Gabriel, Xavier and Charlotte.

Also surviving is her son-in-law Gordon Sawyer, her siblings Sally Bauer (Charles), Su Cowieson (Thomas), John McLoughlin, Jr. (Wendy), James McLoughlin (Kim) and Joyce Bassett (Michael) along with her canine companion Oliver and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her beloved daughters Courtney Savaria and Kristin Sawyer and her brother Stephen McLoughlin.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 from 4-7pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road Glenville.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.

Judy’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for the loving care she received during her stay.
