Obituary of Mary Cipriano

MARY A. CIPRIANO (nee: Guagliardo), 93, died peacefully at the Ellis McClellan Campus on September 23, 2013. She was born on July 5, 1920 in Schenectady and was nearly a lifelong resident of her beloved "Junction" Rotterdam Junction. Mary was the daughter of Joseph and Rosaria DiMaggio Guagliardo. She was a graduate of Woestina High School and later in life was a teacher's aid for the Woestina School District for over 27 years, retiring in 1982. She married George Cipriano on April 24, 1949. Mary and George and were married 61 glorious years until he passed away in Dec. 2010. The Cipriano's were communicants of St. Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic Church. Besides being a faithful communicant, Mary volunteered her time with many church functions and was a Rosary Society member. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Rotterdam Junction Fire Department. Mary and George enjoyed 10 years of wintering in Fort Myers, Florida. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking for family and friends. Mary was predeceased by her siblings James, Michael and Samuel Guagliardo and Carmella Frekany. Survivors include her daughters Christine Coletta and her husband Dennis of Glenville and Karen Cappello (the late Patsy) of Rotterdam. Mary leaves behind four cherished grandaughters: Alissa Buhrmaster and her husband Kevin, Erica MacDormand and her husband David, Ronde Coletta and Kelsey Cappello; three great grandchildren; Kendi and Talon MacDormand and George Buhrmaster. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated THURSDAY (September 26) at 10 AM at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, Main St. Rotterdam Junction with Rev. Michael Hogan officiating. There will be no calling hours. Entombment will follow the mass at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery Niskayuna. In memory of Mary A.
