Craig Barry

Obituary of Craig L. Barry

Craig L. Barry passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Monday, May 16th, 2022. Craig was born in Seward, NY on August 5th, 1936; son of the late Helen Kathryn Schulz Barry and Lindsay Donald Barry. Craig grew up in Schenectady, NY and graduated from Nott Terrace High School and then furthered his studies at Siena College and SUNY Albany.

Craig went on to marry Ada (Arsenault) Barry soon after; a marriage that lasted 54 years at the time of her passing in 2016. They initially settled in the Schenectady area to start a family, eventually becoming residents of Ballston Lake, NY for many years, where their children were raised. Once empty-nesters, the couple moved to Glenville, NY.

Craig began his career as a teacher at Rhinebeck High School in Rhinebeck, NY, but moved away from that path and began a job as a grant writer at the NYS Research Foundation for several years. From there, he moved into residential real estate, commercial real estate, and finally was an inspector for Homestead Funding Corp until his retirement.

Craig was an avid sports lover, but particularly baseball. From playing it himself in his younger years, to coaching little league during his parenting years, watching the Mets and Yankees play on television, and in his golden years becoming a member of the ‘Schenectady Ole Timers Baseball Club’; where he would gather with lifelong friends and fellow baseball enthusiasts to enjoy each other’s company. Craig was also a fan of Saratoga Racecourse and betting his odds over the years; often times in his favor.

Craig is survived by his three children, daughter Lindsay Barry Kline, son Craig P. Barry (Christina), daughter Caroline E. Barry, as well as his sister Paula (Barry) Dellarocco of Florida. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua and Jake Jablonowski; and Zachary, Madaline and Nathan Barry. His surviving in-laws include: Bill and Louise Arsenault, Butch (Philip) and Gloria Arsenault, Barbara Arsenault, Nancy Young and Gerald Russell, and nieces and nephews.

Craig’s family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to The Wesley in Saratoga Springs as well as Dr. Hung Dinh Nguyen, Dr. Patrick Lynch as well as the rest of his entire care team from Saratoga Hospital for their compassionate care.
